Improve Time & Expense Entry

Our Client specializes in the temporary placement of physicians, CRNAs, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and psychologists at healthcare facilities across the U.S. Like so many companies, its employees must enter time and expenses on a weekly basis in order to process payroll and reimbursements. The legacy system for processing time and expenses was well past its prime. APG Emerging Tech designed a contemporary experience aligned to this unique industry.

Opportunity

Our Client specializes in the temporary placement of physicians, CRNAs, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and psychologists at healthcare facilities across the U.S. As the industry’s most-visited job board, our Client helps healthcare organizations connect with the professionals they need to ensure patients have access to quality care.

Like so many companies, its employees must enter time and expenses on a weekly basis in order to process payroll and reimbursements. The legacy system for processing time and expenses was well past its prime. APG Emerging Tech designed a contemporary experience aligned to this unique industry.

Approach

Our consultants engaged with our Client’s IT leadership, Accounting, and Operations teams to elicit key requirements for this design effort. Though we had some initial wireframes from which to base the designs, it was clear the stakeholders had not yet collaborated on detailed requirements needed to achieve a functional design.

“At the surface this appeared to be a simple clean-up of wireframes, but we quickly noticed the stakeholders had not yet convened to talk about the process driving the user experience. It was our pleasure to facilitate these important conversations.”- Justin Cullifer

APGET’s designers quickly modeled a full, end-to-end prototype of the time and expense entry, review, and approval process. We also modeled this experience in a responsive way, knowing many clinicians would use these modules from the comfort of their smartphones.

Our deliverables included a full Figma user experience design for time and expenses, with assets ready to be used by developers eager to start working on the user interface.

Outcomes

APGET can act as our clients’ adjunct product team for product strategy, design, and build of the solution. We can also plug and play into specific areas of the product lifecycle to give our clients a hand where one is needed. In the case of this project, we plugged in to strategy and design of key assets. Our Client’s internal IT development organization has consumed our deliverables and is working to bring the new time and expense system online. All feedback to-date has been positive and indicates our inputs have accelerated internal efforts and reduced the need for rework.
